Those who have worked closely with me have heard me repeat, time and time again, “every interaction is a therapeutic interaction”. This has been the anchor for my work over the course of a long and varied career. The recognition of the potential for healing that lives in each and every moment of our precious lives, has driven me to ask the big questions of this big work that we do as therapists. These deep wonderings ground me in a space beyond surface impressions, pulling me towards what it means to become an embodiment of my work as a therapist - both inside and outside the session room.
My mission is to create community and conversation around the cultivation of a more effective, compassionate and authentic healing practice. This is an invitation to you to join me in exploring those questions, pushing against the blocks and boundaries of your practice and growing into a space of authentic healing practice that you may not have known existed - all the while working alongside a community of others who long for the same. This work is about the pursuit of meaningful, fulfilling, effective and transformative healing work.
The Pillars of Practice
This work is infinitely expansive. There is no “right” answer, and no one way to do it.
We are all different. Our unique gifts and instincts provide the foundation upon which our authentic healing work can thrive. But it is up to us - and only us - to tune into this, to embrace curiosity and follow our longing for more meaningful, connected, impactful and authentic therapeutic work. I have identified three pillars of practice that guide this work in my course material, community discussions, workshops, retreats, personal practices and beyond.
Therapeutic Presence
Therapeutic Presence begins with the recognition of therapeutic possibility. We are all capable of building and honing our awareness and discernment of the energy in the room. This process involves great vulnerability and a step into a new perspective that arrives when we put down the role of the expert and embrace the unknown.
Embodied Intuition
Embodying Intuition is all about a willingness to follow the invitation to go deeper and step into a place of deep self trust. When we practice honoring our intuition more often than not, we have access to therapeutic tools and insight that we may never have known existed. Exploring the many inner voices and conditioning that holds us back from following the wisdom of our being is critical to this work.
Therapeutic Artistry
Therapeutic Artistry is built upon the strong foundation that Therapeutic Presence and Embodied Intuition provide. When we are centered in these practices we can begin to explore and trust the creative and inspiring process of working with our clients. Tapping into our authenticity is at the center of this pillar - the way we show up for our clients will only be as powerful as our ability to show up for ourselves in truth, sincerity and love.
